Professional free skier C.R. Johnson died in an accident today while skiing down a steep chute and hitting his head against the rocks. Read more on C.R. Johnson’s tragic death below.

C.R. Johnson, who had competed in the Winter X games, was skiing with friends on Wednesday when he fell while going down a tight and very rocky area.

Johnson reportedly fell face first and spun around and hit the back of his head on rocks. The free skier was wearing a helmet, according to reports.

The ski patrol made it on the scene within a few minutes, but were unable to revive Johnson.

C.R. Johnson was reportedly 26 years old.

Johnson had posted the following statement his MySpace page: “I feel it’s most important to keep it real and enjoy each moment, you know, take advantage of every opportunity life provides, because who knows what tomorrow may bring.”
